HAPPY FATHER’S DAY…

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Happy Father’s Day By Aneraé “X-Raided” Brown Time has a way of clarifying things.  If we allow it, that is.  Conditions have to be created for it to work.  Maturity is most important but that’s something more than growing into your body.  It’s growing into your mind and spirit.  That happens at different speeds for different people.  It took a long time for me and I still don’t always know if I’m getting it right, but I interpret my awareness of that as a sign of maturity. I’ve been writing my mother pretty frequently most recently.  We’ve been in a good place with each other and I’m happy about that.  I want my critical relationships to be in solid shape.  It’s easy to throw a label at our memories and call things good or bad and place blame, but ... Innocent Bystander

Innocent Bystander By Anerae “X-Raided” Brown June 21, 2010 Someone recently told me about some talk that I killed a “grandmother” and that’s what I’m in prison for. I have heard that for years and never rebutted it (until I made Eternally Unforgiven) out of fear of it being harmful to me legally or being considered disrespectful of the dead. But let’s talk about it. First of all, I didn’t shoot anyone. I didn’t kill the victim in my case. A woman was killed but I did not intend for her to die and I don’t think the person who shot her could see anything but movement in the dark. It was pitch black, 2 o’clock in the morning. She was an innocent bystander. A victim of circumstances. J-Dogg, Jerome McCoy, a member of the Garden Blocc Crips, was kille... Read More

“When Rappers Go to Jail”
As told to Allhiphop.com by X-Raided
June 9, 2010
I find it interesting that everyone finds it so shocking that most if not all famous people are placed in segregated housing when they get locked up.  Even here in prison, when the Rolling Stone with Lil Wayne on the cover came out saying that he would be in protective custody at Riker’s Island, I heard grumbles like, “He talks all that blood shit but he’s in PC.”  What does everyone expect Lil Wayne to do?  This is a guy who can’t even walk through a mall without security just because of too much love and too much hate.  A famous person can’t walk through a club or any other public place... “These Are Your Friends”
By X-Raided June 1, 2010
I heard that people are asking where certain individuals stand with me. I want to provide clarification. First and foremost, my loyalty is to Bloc Star and those who rep it 100%. B. Parker is my wife. Obviously, she is always aware of my thoughts and feelings. Then it’s Filthy Rich. The three of us have brought the team this far since 2008 and I am dedicated to our remaining the core of Bloc Star. Filthy Rich is hands down the closest one to me. We’re solid. C-Dubb and Gangsta Reese have been loyal to me and dependable both as men and as artists. I’m proud of them and we’re going to keep pushing. I am going to show everyone what Leviat... Read More

Billy Jam’s Interview With X-Raided

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

February 20, 2009 Interview with X-Raided by Billy Jam Q: For those who don't know about you as an artist and your impressive recording output, can you give a brief overview of all of the recordings you have been involved in (including as a writer) over the years? A: Well, I began recording with a DJ named Percy Hunter, who we called "P-Nutt" as a homeboy and "DJ Tantrum" as a DJ because he was always yelling at us for stealing his records! [X-Raided laughs.) I met Sicx shortly after that, through my cousin Nicole, and Sicx introduced me to Brother Lynch Hung. None of us had a name at the time, we were just circulating tapes In South Sacramento. Sicx and Lynch convinced me to hit an actual studio, Enharmonic, owned by John Botch. That was when we made what came to be Psyc... Read More

The Creative Process in Prison

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

September 09, 2009 <br> The Creative Process in Prison By Aneraé "X-Raided" Brown  I am entering my fourteenth year of imprisonment in the California Department of Corrections and (so-called) Rehabilitation. The entire time, I have written songs for myself and others, as well as short stories and essays, and even a column for Murder Dog Magazine and a blog on my Myspace page. The thing that stands out in my mind, in terms of what it's like trying to be creative in this environment, is that the opportunity to do so just may be more available than in other settings. There can be a lot of solitude and isolation in prison, and for someone who knows how to utilize the lack of distractions; it can be fertile ground for creativity.  I once joked to a friend that when Moses n... Detailed Q & A interview with X-Raided

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

February 2, 2009 The Authentic Article® Interview with X-Raided by: Dane "Money" Atwater Q: There are a lot of misconceptions about your case; It's been reported by the LA Times that the youngest of the other 4 Individual defendants pleaded guilty and testified against you in return for prosecution as a juvenile, while everyone else were tried as adults. Is this accurate information? If so, who was the youngest individual? A: I remember that interview with Geoff Boucher, for the LA Times. It seemed to have favored the law enforcement and leaned in a negative direction against us, as opposed to someone just reporting the facts. I was surprised, because Geoff Boucher is a sincerely decent guy. He probably truly believed what he wrote, but, it was wrong. As far as the youngest Indiv... Read More

Never Surrender

Friday, February 05, 2010

Current mood:   optimistic

What up everybody. I hope life is treating y'all well and if not, I hope you have a plan to change that. A lot has been going on in my life. I've been working hard, trying to solidify Bloc Star Entertainment and give us the opportunity to be the dominant company in our region. Doing whatever I gotta do. Maybe y'all heard about the phone and the digital recorder I had.

As usual, someone ratted me out. There's no way to know who, I can only really figure out who it wasn't. No one was aware who didn't need to know, but at the same time, I'm one of the main people someone could have just guessed something like that about. Once the first person got cracked and the speculation began over who else could possibly have s... Read More

About the singles... SPEAK THE TRUTH (from the album BLOC BIZNIZ, March 16, 2010):  This is my view of the hip hop scene, my report of what it's looked like through my eyes over the past few years.  I wrote it as if I'm speaking to Seagram Miller, a forgotten rapper from bacc in the day who helped pave the way for some of us more hardcore artists in Northern Cali.  Kinda just telling Seag what's been going on in hip hop and our region specifically. COLORBLIND (C-Dubb & X-Raided, from C-Dubb's album MOB HITS, March 16, 2010):  my verse goes:  "White boys can't rhyme unless you find Eminem/ Even Asher Roth flopped and he rhyme like Eminem/ be designed like Eminem/ that's the only way anybody really gon' be willin' to buy a him and him/ or a so...
